it's 11:03 pm here in west chester, pa.
my husband and i are just finishing up our evening workout (tonight was yoga thanks to p90x).
i think i'll grab a snack and head to bed.
on the other side of the world, the china 09 team is just begining a very long day of traveling.
i spoke to them a few min ago on-board a bus to the airport.
they spent the night in a high-end, cushy beijing hotel courtesy of united airlines. they slept from about 1:30 am until 7am and awoke to a luxurious breakfast buffet. none of them have their suitcases...only what is in their carry-on bags, but they all got a shower (and then got to put back on the same clothes they have been wearing for the past day and night.) when they got outside, a $500K rolls royce was parked outside. you don't see one of those everyday!!
they were then shuffled onto a bus for round 2 of their travel back to the USA. let's hope this one is a little smoother than round 1 :)
my mom said they have felt like a herd of sheep for the past few days. no one tells them where they are going or what is going on with their flights. they are just in a herd, with no apparent leader or destination. they just keep trusting that someone knows where they are going. we all know that someone definatly knows what's going on, no matter what delays the airline might have in store. we know where our hope comes from. that is the hope that the team is leaning on at this very moment.
the team will arrive at the airport and will have to go through customs (again), do a passport check (again), and check out of china (again) before boarding their plane.
as of the united.com flight status, takeoff is scheduled for 6:30 pm (china time) but i'm not going to hold my breath on that info. let's just all wait until they acctually takeoff and then we will know what their approx arrival time will be.
my dad is going to call and leave me a voicemail in the middle of the night when they takeoff, so i'll update the blog/email/phone chain in the morning with the newest info.
until then, pr'y, sleep and trust.
